My father Prof Moncef Ben Salem has started a hunger strike for Ten days to alert the international public opinion on the degradation of his health following a true medical embargo: the political police force prevents the doctors from penetrating in his residence, and similar methods are employed when it goes in the places of care. However its state requires a constant follow-up and care since it suffers from the diabetes, the kidneys, the sight and the hémorroïdes, after-effects of the tortures undergone at the time of the arrests and the five years of prison purged for political reasons. It would have to be announced here that to this medical embargo are added embargoes economic and social who threw our family in a serious financial and psychological precariousness. These last hours its health gave alarming signs of weakening, owing to the fact that he is diabetic and serious after-effects are feared. It was still auscultated by no doctor. I kindly request to you to intervene with the Tunisian President so that my father can look after himself urgently abroad, since the local authorities violate its right to the care constantly and put in danger its life. It is to be noticed that one opposed a constant refusal to him to his multiple requests for passport, whose last goes up &a serious; 2002.
